FUNNY LOOPS\vp_2000_01

If you have a daughter growing up in your family, this means that her wardrobe should be varied in outfits. Of course, you can buy a dress or a skirt, but knitting a sundress with your own hands is original and at the same time exclusive. In this article we will look step by step at the process of knitting a sundress for a girl using knitting needles.

To start knitting a children's sundress, you need to prepare yarn, knitting needles and choose the appropriate model. The type and quantity of yarn depends on the model of the dress, as well as what knitting needles you need to use and in what quantity.

Sundresses can be: summer, warm, elegant and for an everyday look.

Important! For an openwork product, less yarn will be used than for a dense pattern.

Yarn containing cotton, linen and viscose is perfect for a summer sundress. And for a warm knitted product with knitting needles, choose wool blend yarn.

Attention! A knitted product made from 100% wool will not hold its shape well.

We invite you to consider various models of knitted sundresses for girls: with braids, openwork knitting, with pockets and much more.

Need measurements

In order to begin the knitting process, you need to take measurements. The size of clothing depends on the child’s height, so you can use the size table, which can be easily found in the corresponding section of our website.

Using a measuring tape, you need to measure the fashionista and write down the following measurements:

  • chest girth;
  • waist circumference;
  • hip girth;
  • length of the product.

Any model of knitted outfit has its own pattern, which is made according to the provided pattern. Your task is to choose the sundress you like and get to work. But to make the product beautiful and comfortable, remember that:

  • The choice of yarn depends on the model of clothing;
  • you need to observe the size of the knitting needles and the knitting density;
  • in the description of the circuit, abbreviated designations are used, such as p. - loop, r. – row, l. p. - front loop, i. p. - purl loop.

Patterns and descriptions of knitting different patterns

If summer models of knitted sundresses are light, original clothes for every little princess, then the winter version looks harmonious with blouses, turtlenecks and blouses.

Warm sundress for girls knitted

Let's consider step by step the process of knitting a warm sundress for a 3-month-old girl. For this you will need:

  • Yarn of the color you chose, weighing 50 grams and quantity from 2 to 4 skeins depending on the size.
  • Knitting needles 3 mm, 3.5 mm and 4 mm.
  • Wooden buttons for decoration.

This model is suitable for ages from 3 months to 2 years. First you need to take measurements of the chest circumference and length of the product.

The knitting density will be 24 loops in 31 rows, which equates to a size of 10 cm by 10 cm.

  1. Back and front They knit the same way, so we take 3 mm knitting needles, cast on 87 stitches and knit 2 cm with a small pearl pattern. To do this, we alternately perform a purl loop and a knit stitch throughout the entire row, and after each row, the pattern should shift by one loop.
  2. Next, we switch to 3.5 mm knitting needles and start knitting in satin stitch, that is, the knit stitches should be in the front row, and the purl stitches in the purl row.
  3. When 21.5 cm of the product is already ready, we begin to decrease the loops from the cast-on edge: 8 knit loops, knit 3 loops together, knit 1, repeat from * 17 times, knit 3 loops together. Then knit 8–11 stitches, * knit 3 stitches together, knit 1, repeat from * 17 times, knit 3 stitches together, 11 stitches/9 stitches, * knit 3 stitches together, 1 l., repeat from * 20 times, knit 3 sts together l., 9 l./11 l., * knit 3 sts together l., 1 l., repeat from * 21 times, knit 3 sts together l. ., 11 l. On the last 51 stitches, make one purl row with purl stitches.
  4. Take 3 mm knitting needles and knit with a small pearl pattern. 23 cm from the edge of the cast-on thread, close 4 loops for the armholes on both sides, then decrease with special decreases (2 loops at a distance of 3 loops from the edge: 1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit, make 3 loops together, knit a row according to the pattern When there are 6 stitches left on the left knitting needle, knit 3 stitches together knit., 1 p., 1 i., 1 p.) at a distance of 3 loops from the edge in every 4th row, bind off two loops once and in each 6th row two loops three times. In every 4th row, close two loops twice and in every 6th row. close two loops three times, in every 6th row 2 loops 5 times, in every 4th row. 2 loops once and in every 6th r. 2 loops 5 times.
  5. On the remaining 27 sts, knit 4 rows. and close the loops by knitting them on the wrong side of the work.
  6. To tie the straps We will need 3 mm knitting needles, cast on 5 stitches and knit a small pearl pattern. In the 13th row we leave a hole for a button: 1 l., knit 2 loops together l., 1 slip, 1 i., 1 l. After 16 cm from the cast-on edge, close all the loops. Knit two parts.

When all the parts are ready, you need to sew the side seams and sew the straps to the back. Next, we decorate with accessories, on the straps and sew one button at the front.

We knit a sundress with pockets

If you decide to knit a sundress with pockets, let's look at how to knit the pockets and attach them to the product.

To make pockets we will need knitting needles 3.5 mm. Cast on 19 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch. On both sides it is necessary to add 1 loop (5 times) in every second row to form bevels. 7 cm from the cast-on edge, make an elastic band 2 cm high, then bind off the loops. It is necessary to make two such parts.

When our sundress and pockets are prepared, let's start assembling. Cast on 70 stitches along the side edges and bottom of the pocket and make 2 rows in garter stitch.

We sew the pockets to the front at such a height from the bottom and at such a distance from the side seam that they are not close to each other and the bottom of the dress.

To make the process easier, listen to the advice of experienced needlewomen.

  • For summer sundresses, it is better to choose thin threads, and for winter models, woolen threads are more suitable.
  • Before you start working, stock up on the required amount of yarn or wash it, as it tends to shrink when washed.
  • To prevent your knitted wool product from becoming too coarse, do not choose thin knitting needles. To avoid looseness, do not use thick knitting needles with thin threads.
  • If you are new to this type of needlework, then choose simple patterns with light patterns.
  • When worn, a knitted product tends to stretch in the neck area; to avoid this, tie it with a crochet hook.
  • Knit clothes not end to end, but to grow.
  • To make the product look neat, make the elastic a size smaller than the size of the sundress itself.
  • In order to get a beautiful hem at the bottom of the product, you need to knit the front row with purl loops, and then 5 cm of the product with facial loops.

Now you can please yourself with handicrafts and your child with a beautiful new sundress.

Summer is fast approaching, so I wanted (considering our “hot” summer) to knit a sundress. Here, soft and pleasant to the touch woolen yarn Pekhorka “Children's novelty” was used. I knitted a sundress for my 2-year-old daughter.

Knitted sundress from pekhorka

I would like to immediately apologize for the quality of the photos, they were taken on a phone quite a long time ago, and the sundress itself has already been handed over to other children for use

Set - knitted sundress and blouse

When knitting, we used Pekhorka “Children's Novelty” yarn - a thread in one fold (I knitted it in two folds for a jacket), knitting needles No. 2.5 and a hook for processing the edges of the armholes and neckline.

The history of the Pekhorsk factory dates back to the distant and memorable year 1905 for Russia, when a cloth factory was built not far from Moscow on the western outskirts of the village of Zhilino by the Korzin brothers. Factory buildings rose on a low picturesque hill, on the banks of the Pekhorka River (pehorka.ru)

How to knit a sundress?

I started knitting with a strip of rope on the hips.

We cast on 38 loops.

We knit the front rows: edge loop, purl loop, imitation of a rope of 2 loops (cross to the right), purl. loop, braid of 18 loops, purl loop, imitation braid of 2 loops (cross to the left), purl. loop, edge

We knit the purl rows according to the pattern, i.e. facial loops - knit, purl - purl.

It is necessary to knit a strip equal to the circumference of the child’s hips, but so that it fits loosely enough.

Now, along the long side of the cord, we collect loops to knit the bottom of the pleated sundress. I knitted the bottom separately, and then connected it to the harness. The number of loops should be a multiple of 10 plus two edge loops. The more stitches you cast on, the more pronounced the folds will be. I ended up with a total of 242 stitches.

1st row (knits): chrome, *knit 9, purl 1, repeat from* to the end of the row, chrome.
2nd row (purl): chrome, knit 5, purl 1, *knit 9, purl 1, repeat from *, finish knit 4, chrome.
Repeat further rows 1 and 2 until the required height of the fabric.

When knitting folds, keep in mind that the lines from the knit stitches form the outer corner of the fold, and the purl stitches form the inner corner.

Corners of folds of a knitted sundress

For armholes on each side we decrease in every second row: once 3 loops, twice 2 loops, and three times one loop. Next we knit in stockinette stitch to the neckline. We symmetrically form the neck recess,
cast off 4,2,2,1,1,1 stitches on each knit row.

We make a small shoulder bevel with shortened rows.
To do this, in the last four rows we turn the knitting,
without knitting 3 loops each time from the side of the armholes.

For the autumn-winter season, you can knit a warm sundress using thick threads with wool fibers included in the yarn. Any models of sundresses for children have straps or elegant straps, but sleeves are not provided in any version. The straps can have snaps, buttons, ties, or ribbons. They can be narrow and wide, straight and cross-shaped, knitted or sewn from soft fabric. The most popular styles of children's sundresses are trapezoid, straight, sun.

Now on the spokes the rest. 90 loops. We knit with a white thread, decreasing a loop in every 4 rows 14 times in a row.

There should be 62 sts left on the needles.
At a height of approximately 36 cm there will be a clasp. We close 4 Wed. p. and knit two sides separately. Here you need to close the armholes twice in each 2nd row, 3 stitches each. And 2 times, two loops each.

Front part of the model: Cast on 98 stitches. Work the first 18 rows in the same way as the first 18 rows of the back.

(12 rows of fancy pattern and 6 rows of stockinette stitch). In the 13th row you need to decrease 8 loops.

After 10 rows from the red stripe we will knit several flowers.
Next, we knit with white thread.

At a height of 36 cm we make armholes - bind off 4 loops, then 3 loops, 2 and 1.

There will be a neckline at a height of 45 cm: close 8 loops in the center of the piece. After - 4 loops on both sides, and 2 times two loops.
